Cod and whiting for local anglers

The rock edges around marsden have been producing some decent codling of late, the lower wear has also produced good bags of whiting, odd sizeable flounder, coalfish and codling. Best bait for the codling have been worm,fresh/frozen peeler crab and mackerel for the whiting.

The white wall area of the wear has also fished well providing plenty of sport with whiting and the odd sizeable flounder to worm and fish baits. The holderness coast has also been fishing quite well with some good cod of the beaches, tyne areas have produced some nice coalfish, numerous whiting and odd size codling, shields has fished similar with the big tides coming this weekend theres ought to be some nice codling of the piers or rock edges.

Cod turn up with rough seas

There has been an improvement in shore fishing the past week  with good codling showing from various local fishing marks the tyne, shields pier, the wear estuary have  all thrown decent fish up the past week with fish to 5lb reported on anglers talk ne forum, plenty of whiting are also showing most averaging 1lb in weight, the rathouse has provided great sport with double figure catches of whiting, fresh crab seems to be having the edge for codling and mackerel strip for the whitings.

There’s a good chance more fish will be caught over the next week with some south easterlie gales forecasted which should push more codling in.Night tides have been producing the best results for the bigger fish.

Seaham hall beach,County Durham

South end of the beach.

This photo is looking towards Seaham north pier and the rocks you can see is
the feather bed rock its a good low water mark but it is dodge mark to fish if you
have never fished it before dont fish it you can get cut off and if there is a bit of
a swell you could get washed off there is a rock behind you so you will see when
you have to get off
The beach is a mixed there is more sand than rock but it changes every time there is
a big sea away the sand moves around.

This is photo of the north end of the beach.

the north end of the beach is the same as the south mixed ground but more sand than
rock its worth having a look at low water before you fish.
